About Me

What’s your role? The role of the clinical negligence lawyer is crucial in today’s society. Negligence often causes injury, but in clinical matters the injuries can be catastrophic. Not only do I seek and recover compensation, but I also deliver answers to the questions that have been left unanswered by medical practitioners. I investigate clinical negligence claims fighting on behalf of the families where clinical blunders have caused appalling injuries. This involves meeting with a family and fully investigating the treatment they’ve experienced considering where that treatment has fallen short of the standards set in law, and where appropriate fighting for compensation in the highest courts to achieve a just result. Many times this means multi-million-pound settlements. We then use those settlements to increase the quality of life of the injured person – new accommodation and care plans. What are your specialisms? My workload is wide and varied, and I have developed particular expertise in catastrophic cases, whilst leading the team who deal with smaller, but nonetheless important claims. I’m an advocate of victims accessing justice and I have promoted the virtues of legal aid publicly to fight this cause. Specialist areas for me include: Cerebral palsy, Late diagnosis of subarachnoid haemorrhage, Misdiagnosis of childhood diseases, Misdiagnosis of brain injuries, Shoulder dystocia Fatal claims. Your experience? I’ve recently succeeded in a number of serious claims including, being able to show that a delivery at 24 weeks gestation was negligent and wholly responsible for the catastrophic brain damage suffered, and after a significant investigation I was also able to show that an amniocentesis needle was responsible for significant brain damage. In both cases the award in damages represented the significant 24-hour care needed by both clients. Which five words best describe you? Determined, Self-Critical, Intelligent, Outspoken, Faithful Three things we didn’t know about you? I’m a member of the Law Society’s specialist clinical negligence panel; I’m a Trustee of Rose Road Association; Volunteer Ranger with Eastleigh Borough Council Countryside Services
